As part of CWB Financial Group’s commitment to actively participate in the growth and development of the communities in which we live and work, every year, CWB Trust Services participates in CWB's annual company-wide fundraising campaign in support of United Way Canada. The money raised during the campaign funds numerous valuable non-profit programs that not only advances support and outreach programs in local communities, but also helps deliver food and housing security solutions for communities across Canada.
Proudly, over $281,000 was raised by CWB and its team members in 2020.
Recently, CWB Financial Group announced the total amount raised during our 2020 United Way Campaign. Proudly, over $281,000 was collectively raised by CWB, its partner companies including CWB Trust Services and the CWB team at-large.
Planning a national and company-wide fundraiser during a pandemic was no small feat
Due to COVID-19 restrictions, this year's campaign looked a lot different than those from previous years. Some of the most popular and effective annual fundraising activities like bake sales, social fundraising events and in-person events were sensibly cancelled. Unfortunately, also cancelled was CWB's annual Day of Caring, where groups of CWB employees coordinate with United Way and spend a day volunteering for local non-profit organizations like food banks, care homes, and community service groups.

Not satisfied to let the pandemic impact their fundraising objectives, CWB and CWB Trust Services team members rose to the challenge and found innovative and creative solutions to adapt their fundraising efforts. Not surprisingly, virtual efforts leveraging CWB's rapidly deployed
COVID-response technology solutions filled the gap. Through video conferencing and other online platforms, virtual trivia matches, cooking competitions, and the perennially popular staff action were still able to be activated.
And yet, a fundraising increase of over 75% from the previous year
Proudly, despite the pandemic, the CWB Trust Services team increased their amount fundraised by over 75% from the previous year - an amazing feat given the challenges the pandemic posed.
