Caring for the Environment through Sustainable Actions and Volunteerism

This Earth Day, we look back at CWB Trust Services' Shoreline Cleanup initiative in Vancouver.

CWB Trust Services is proudly a part of CWB Financial Group, an organization with a deep commitment to sustainability and environmental stewardship. Its Community Crews program provides team members with up to three hours of paid time off to participate in volunteer activities with their team on an annual basis. In 2022, CWB Financial Group team members logged over 3,800 personal volunteer hours.

Last Spring, a group from CWB Trust Services, along with colleagues from Credit Support, took part in a shoreline cleanup in Vancouver as part of their commitment to sustainable practices and taking care of the community where they work and live. The event was organized in collaboration with Ocean Wise Great Canadian Shoreline Cleanup, a program that aims to promote awareness and action to reduce marine debris in Canada.

The team was enthusiastic and ready to do their part for this group activity, which took place around False Creek near the CWB Trust Services Cambie office. They picked up litter and debris along the shoreline, including plastics, cigarette butts and other trash. While working together to collect as much waste as possible in just a few hours, they made a noticeable difference in the cleanliness of the shoreline area.

Sustainability is integral to CWB's values, and by participating in events like the shoreline cleanup, employees demonstrate their commitment to taking action. The team not only helped to keep the shoreline clean, but they also showed that even small actions, like picking up litter, can have a lasting impact on the environment.

Overall, the shoreline cleanup was a great success for CWB Trust Services and Credit Support employees as part of the Community Crews initiative. It was a chance to work together towards a common goal by putting their values into action while helping to cultivate a more sustainable future for all.
