Regulatory RRSP trustee services

Taking care of account administration so you can focus on your business

CWT can act as trustee, providing services for your fiduciary needs.

When it comes to selling self-directed RRSPs and other registered products to clients, institutions like brokerage firms must have a trustee. In most situations, the trustee and the institution enter in an agency agreement. This outlines the responsibilities for each party. Typically, the institution is responsible for managing the client relationship and the trustee provides the fiduciary services.

When CWT is appointed as a trustee, we then appoint the brokerage firm to act as our agent. As trustee, we will also hold the uninvested cash balances held within the registered plans.

We are a full service intermediary for mutual fund dealers and independent financial advisors, and a CSS FundSERV participant. We also provide a delivery against payment equity and fixed income settlement service for our annuitants through a network of brokerage firms. At CWT, we understand your business.

We offer the following benefits when acting as a regulatory RRSP trustee:

  • Availability of all registered products
  • Customized level of agent delegation
  • Private company and investor mortgage experience
  • Self-directed mortgage services
  • An annual fiduciary audit of client files and company data
  • Canada Revenue Agency tax reporting, as applicable

Fees are determined in accordance with client volumes, services required and responsibilities outlined in the specific agency agreement.
